Philippine Embassy in U.S. Hands Over Books for Mabuhay Inc Culture School

 – To kick-start the celebration of the Filipino American History Month in October, Sentro Rizal of the Philippine Embassy in Washington D.C. donated Filipino cultural books to Mabuhay Inc. to supplement the Mabuhay Inc. Culture School (MICS) program. The donated books from the Embassy, National Commission for Culture and the Arts, and Office of the Agricultural Counsellor are (1) Ayoko Po Sana; (2)Teacher’s Guide:  Module for K-12; and (3) The New Filipino Kitchen respectively. 

“The Sentro Rizal of the Philippine Embassy hopes that these books will further enrich the MICS curriculum and library. We thank the Mabuhay Inc., for their continued efforts in teaching kids of all backgrounds about Filipino culture and heritage. I thank the National Commission for Culture and the Arts as well as the Embassy’s Agricultural Counsellor for their donation.” says Ambassador Jose Manuel Romualdez.


MICS, one of the organization’s flagship projects, is a cultural and educational enrichment program for children ages 4-16 years old. An Open House event will be held on 08 October 2022 from 1:00-3:00 PM ET at the Holy Family Church in Maryland, while the full 2022 MICS schedule will run every Saturday from October 8, 2022 to May 20, 2023. Through this program, Mabuhay Inc. promotes its overall mission “Harmony in Diversity.” MICS aims to teach students about the common bonds of history, geography, and culture between the Philippines and the United States of America. 


Mabuhay Inc. is an organization established in 1985 that provides support for Filipino American community who have similar concerns about assimilation into the American mainstream, interracial marriages, raising biracial children, and maintaining ties with their home country, the Philippines. One of the organization’s goals is to foster a better understanding of American and Filipino culture.
