NEW YORK – Despite torrential rain, Filipinos and allies numbering over a hundred, gathered outside the Philippine Consulate on Monday evening, July 22, for the People’s State of the Nation Address (PSONA). The action was organized by the Malaya Movement—a U.S.-based coalition of individuals and organizations critical of the Duterte administration in the Philippines. The Multi-city rally across the United States was in response to President Rodrigo Duterte’s own State of the Nation Address.

A 12-foot tall collectively-produced mural was erected for the event, to obscure monitors that play Philippine tourism ads on loop along 5th Avenue.
