FRW 2019 New York Launch on May 8 at High Bar Rooftop Lounge

New York - The 2019 Filipino Restaurant Week in the US Northeast region organized by the Philippine Consulate General New York has been set for May 13 thru May 26. An official launching in New York is scheduled on May 8 at the High Bar Rooftop Lounge in Midtown ManhattanThe launch event will be ticketed and open to the public. The $25 dollar ticket which can be secured through Eventbrite will cover both the launch event and the closing event which will be held on May 30th at Ugly Kitchen.

For the first time, the launching of the Filipino Restaurant Week will be held outside of the Philippine Center at the beautiful High Bar Rooftop Lounge (www.highbarnewyork.com) located at 346 W 40th St. New York, NY 10018.  This strategic move is pursuant to the desire of the Philippine Consulate General and our partners to further elevate the prestige of the Filipino Restaurant Week and capture more media and mainstream consumer interest.

This year, 24 restaurants and pop-ups are on board and have agreed to continue to highlight various culinary offerings that feature flavors of the Philippines which cover a wide spectrum of Filipino food – from traditional, home-style flavors to cutting edge fusion that incorporates bold innovation. With the support of the Philippine Embassy in Washington DC, new participating restaurants from Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC are joining FRW mainstay restaurants from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.

In 2015, the first ever Filipino Restaurant Week was organized by the Philippine Consulate General New York with 13 participating restaurants. It aimed to shine the spotlight on Filipino restaurants as an essential way through which the public could discover and enjoy Filipino cuisine.

Inspired by the New York Restaurant Week, the participating restaurants will serve set meals of at least three courses:  appetizer, entrée and dessert. They are given the flexibility to come up with innovative menus for lunch and dinner, including whether to include drinks in the price or offer the set meals good for two persons.

The official launch of the Filipino Restaurant Week 2019 with the special participation of Ms. Julie Anne San Jose and Mr. Rayver Cruz on Wednesday May 8th from 3:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. at the High Bar Rooftop Lounge is a rare opportunity to indulge in delicious Filipino Coconut themed tapas, chef-prepared from over two dozen of the top Filipino restaurants in the region. Plus enjoy a complimentary Tanduay coconut libation, cocktail specials, festive music, live cocktail demonstrations, Chef meet & greets, and prize giveaways - including a chance to win a trip to the Philippines.
