Philippine Consulate General to Host the 6th Filipino-American Community General Assembly

NEW YORK – The Philippine Consulate General in New York will be hosting the 6th Filipino-American Community General Assembly on Saturday, 8 February 2020 at the Philippine Center. The General Assembly is the biggest gathering of Fil-Am leaders under the jurisdiction of the New York PCG.

All Filipino-American community organizations in the US Northeast registered with the Consulate are invited to participate in the event for them to be updated on the highlights of the past year as well as new programs of the Consulate for 2020.

With the theme of “Magkaisa, Makisama, Makibahagi”, the GA will highlight a review of the Consulate’s activities in 2019, a preview of plans for the year ahead, and some updates on developments concerning Post’s services. As in previous years, the GA will provide an opportunity for greater community interaction, engagement, and exchanges.

Philippine Ambassador to the US, His Excellency Jose Manuel Romualdez, will be attending the event to deliver his keynote message. Post’s attached agencies such as the Philippine Department of Tourism – New York (PDOT-NY), the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC), Social Security System (SSS) and PAG-IBIG, as well as the Labor and Welfare Offices in Washington DC will be joining to present the services they provide to the Fil-Am community.

In the afternoon, there will be panel discussions about the topics “Inspire Involvement of Young Filipino-Americans” and “Broaden Involvement in Local Community Building and Socio-Political Processes”. Post has invited prominent Filipino-Americans to serve as panelists and moderators for the discussion.
